Brewing Culture

‘We Sprawl conducted a cultural extravaganza ‘over a cup of coffee’ at the heritage Indian Coffee House in Connaught Place, New Delhi on 3rd April, 2011. The evening was about music, photographs and untold stories by We Sprawl.

The exhibition was a display of talent shown by various students in workshops conducted by We Sprawl. There were photographs by students of Father Agnel School, underprivileged students in school run by NGO Deepalaya and members of We Sprawl. The photographs and news stories done by these children were edited by French and Mexican journalists.

The evening also saw a music band coming from Ryan International School perform and impress the audience. They had audience grooving to their music and singing along with them. The group conducts dance, music, theatre, journalism and photography workshops in various schools.

"Young aspiring people need such platforms. That’s our only aim, that is to give them opportunities,” says Aqsa Anjum, one of the founder members, on the occasion. Vanshika Sahni, a spectator at the exhibition was awed by the ambience at the venue. “We had beautiful photographs, lovely music by these children. It was really enjoyable. We were surprised to see little kids perform like professionals,” she said.

Sanchya, the band leader from Ryan International, says that the evening was full of fun. " Many of our band members got so carried away that they were not ready to leave the stage." Sartaj Singh, another solo performer at the event feels that the audience was really supportive. "Yes, we just didn't want to leave the stage," he says. The other band members were Chaitanya Kapoor (lead guitarist), Abhinav Wadhwa (Drummer), Madhwan Sharma (Rythm Guitar) Raunak Mongia( Keyboard) and Aditya Paul (back up vocals), all from Ryan International.

Sartaj Singh was another solo performer at the event who was singing and strumming the guitar.

We Sprawl salutes the talent in these young aspiring students.
